This is the Manual of Style for the Ava's Demon wiki. This page will give an idea of how to write articles so they are consistent with other articles on the wiki. This page is under construction but should still be followed. However, it is okay to not strictly adhere to this guide when creating an article, as over time, other editors will add to it.

Article titles

Article titles should not contain definite articles (the) and indefinite articles (a/an), unless it is a part of an official title. For example, "Limbo Lenses" is used rather than "The Limbo Lenses". In addition, titles should always be plural rather than singular, e.g. "Followers" versus "Follower". An exception to this is an object name e.g. "Gate to Paradise," lists, and species. An article's first word should be the only one beginning with a capital letter, unless the name of an article is specifically capitalised. An example of the latter is "Silent Scavengers".

Article titles must be the subject's official, most commonly used name. For example, "Maggie Lacivi" is used instead of "Magnolia Lacivi".

Article sections

Introductions

Introductions should always have the title term bolded. The introduction should provide the most important information about the article topic, generally containing the who, what, where, why, when, how information. Additionally, only the first time a reference to another article is written should it be linked. This applies outside of the introduction.

Grammar

Neutral Point of View

"Neutral Point of View" or NPOV is the manner of writing articles on this wiki. NPOV is an objective writing style, free of bias. Avoid using phrases such as "I think" or "Fans theorize". Instead, write in facts and limit your article to things that occur in the comic.

  • An example of bias is: Ava is the best. I also think that none of this is real and she's sleeping.
  • An example of NPOV is: Ava is host to the demon Wrathia. Wrathia represents the deadly sin of wrath.

Tense

When describing things that occur in the novel, use the present tense of a verb.

  • Examples of incorrect tense: Maggie crashed the ship and Gev and Fira did not recognise Gil
  • Examples of correct tense: Maggie crashes the ship and Gev and Fira do not recognise Gil

However, past tense should always be used when describing events that occur before the beginning of the story. Flashbacks are considered as occurring before the narrative.

  • Examples of incorrect tense: Nevy reveals the test answers to Gil and Wrathia brews potions
  • Examples of correct tense: Nevy revealed the test answers to Gil and Wrathia brewed potions

Spelling

The correct spelling of any word is the spelling used in US English, as that is the language the comic is in. However, it is not against any rule to use British English, and no one will be punished for doing so -although editors are encouraged to use US English.

Spacing

Single spacing should always be used, instead of double spacing. Additionally, text should always be directly underneath a header, where relevant.

Specific guidelines

  • TITAN should always be written in uppercase letters
  • Strategos Six (and other followers of TITAN) use they/them pronouns
